Counselling is a collaborative talk therapy with a trained, professional counsellor to address personal or psychological challenges, to improve well-being, promote personal growth and achieve goals. We all face issues and challenges in our lives and sometimes we can't move on. Our individual counselling service is solution focussed and provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain insights into your behaviour, and develop strategies for positive change.
Counselling is all about you.
Counselling is a ‘talk therapy’ that's totally focussed on you.
A counsellor is trained to work with your unique circumstances and provides unbiased and judgement-free support.
Counselling can provide:
· Validation and support for what you are feeling and experiencing
· A safe place to express your thoughts, feelings, fears and inner conflicts
· A break from life pressures so you can think, explore, plan and create
· A safe place to feel understood and to understand your thoughts, feelings, experiences and actions
· A way to separate your feelings, emotions and experiences from your intrinsic self
· Strategies to break free from the past and achieve the solutions and the life you long for.
We always start with a few minutes of comfortable chat to help you to relax and move from your day into the counselling space.
Our sessions will move from that comfortable conversation to what’s been happening since we last met, what strategies worked, what’s changed, and how you are feeling generally.
You may want to dive in deep straight away or take it slowly.
What topics we discuss is always up to you: the focus is always on your priorities.
You will leave with new insights and strategies to help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
Your initial session will be a bit longer as we go through the housekeeping things: our agreement, terms and conditions and what you want out of counselling.
Your initial session with run for 1 hour and 15 minutes, all other sessions will run for 45 minutes.
We use evidence-based techniques and the most effective strategy from several approaches to best suit your unique situation and goals.
We provide a solution focussed approach and may include strategies and concepts from:
· Solutions Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT)
· Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
· Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Whatever strategy we use, we will:
· Meet you where you are, without judgement or expectations
· Respect your decisions and collaborate with you to find the best choice
· Provide support through talk therapy with strategies, education and tools
· Be genuinely interested in you, your unique story and experiences,
· Support you to achieve your hopes, dreams and desires
· Provide a safe space for you to explore life with openness, honesty, respect, support and accountability
